vbr Lawyers are proud to sponsor Liam Wilson who is scheduled to fight Emanuel Navarrete on 3 February 2023 for the WBO World Super Featherweight belt.
The fight is due to take place at the Desert Diamond Arena in Phoenix, Arizona.
vbr Lawyers first started supporting Liam as a sponsor in the very early part of Liam’s professional boxing career.
The world title shot for Liam is a dream come true for him, his family, his team and his many supporters.
The journey for Liam for the world title opportunity has involved lots of hard work, success and some adversity.
Part of the adversity Liam experienced involved dealing with the impact of Covid 19 which made it very difficult for quality fights to take place in Australia and overseas.
Liam has also taken all the hard fights. On his journey for his world title opportunity against Navarrete, there have been no easy opponents. Liam faced off against Joe “the jaw breaker” Noynay on 7 July 2021 at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre and lost by way of TKO. Eight months later, Liam had a rematch with Noynay and won convincingly by way of second round left hook damaging KO and despite Noynay missing weight and significantly so.
On 29 June 2022, Liam fought a very experienced and quality opponent in Matias Rueda. Rueda has an impressive boxing record of 37 wins and one loss. The one loss for Rueda was against Oscar Valdez when Rueda fought Valdez for the WBO World Featherweight title in 2016. The fight went the distance over 10 rounds. Liam won the fight and quite convincingly despite having an injured hand.
When the opportunity came Liam’s way to fight Navarrete for the world title, Liam did not hesitate.
Liam left Australia to train in the US almost immediately and has been working hard since the fight was offered to him in November 2022.
Navarrete is moving up a weight class from Featherweight, a weight division he has dominated for many years. Navarrete has a boxing record of 37 wins and one loss with the one loss taking place more than 10 years ago.
Defeating Navarrete won’t be easy but Liam has told us he is fully ready and this is his time.
We are wishing Liam all the very best for the fight and we will ringside to support him and cheer him on for a win.
A win for Liam will allow him to fulfill a promise he made to his Dad just before his Dad passed away that he would win a world title for him.
A win for Liam would also be very big news for Australian boxing and a great reward for Liam and his team.
